There were four teenagers who came from a prestige Chinese family. Because of their bonding and closeness throughout their childhood days, they called their group 4-Ma. This name came from their first names which are Mara Isa, Maria Andrea, Maria Celine and Martha Angelica. They were teenagers when they started their own business. With the help of their family, other friends and business partners, they established a shop which sells recycled items made by their own creative minds and unique ideas.

All of this started in 1993 during the Christmas Eve. They were exchanging gifts and they all receive a gift with a common characteristics: made from recycled materials. Since they were using signature and top-of-the-line
stuffs all the time, they found the gifts unique and they were curious about it. At the same time, they planned to have a vacation and as they travel, they noticed street children getting something from the garbage. The 4-Ma was curious about the thing they were doing and they realized that they were at the right age to make their own business. And because they wanted to help the street children and the environment, they thought of making a shop inspired by the gifts they received in the Christmas eve. In connection with this, they were also inspired in their English project entitled "Oplan No to Plastikan!"

When their business is already stable, they also built a foundation that will make the street children lives better. They also look for sponsors and ask donations from many people. The 10% of the profit from their business goes to the said foundation. In that way, they don't just earn many for their own intentions but they also have the chance to save the environment and save the lives of the street children.
